Hoozr
The community app for pet people. Adopt, volunteer, run shelter dogs, and explore your town with your dog.
The Idea
Good Vibes. Good Causes.
Adoption listings live on one site, lost dogs get posted to a different one, volunteer shifts go out by email, and the people who'd actually show up never hear about any of it. Hoozr is one app for all of it - part shelter directory, part volunteer board, part social network for people who like dogs more than most people.
Find Your Next Pet
Browse adoptable pets from nearby shelters and search the way you'd actually say it - "small friendly dog near me" works. Filter by species, size, shelter, and distance.
Apply to Adopt
A guided application that walks through you, your home, your household, and your other pets - then a status timeline so you're not left wondering where it went.
Volunteer Board
Dog walking, fostering, adoption events, facility care, transport runs, cleanups, fundraising. Browse as a list or a month calendar, see how many spots are left, and sign up.
Community Feed
Photo posts, likes, and comments from both people and shelters. Filter to just shelters when you want the news, or just the community when you want the dogs.
Out in the World
Built Around Where You Are
Everything in Hoozr is distance-aware - pets, shelters, places, and shifts are sorted by how far they are from you, anywhere in the country.
Dog-Friendly Map
Trails, parks, patios, cafés, breweries, campgrounds, and shops that welcome dogs. Search real-world places and add the ones that are missing.
Local Tips
Leave notes on a place - trail conditions, hazards, seasonal closures, or just what's good. The local pack knows things a listing never will.
Lost & Found
Report a lost or found pet with photos, last-seen location, and time. Nearby users see it in their own Lost & Found, and the post follows the story all the way to reunited.
Drone Search
Request an aerial search for a missing pet. A volunteer FAA Part 107 pilot gets matched to your search area, and you follow it through requested, matched, searching, and complete.
The Pack
Showing Up, Made Social
The part that keeps people coming back after the adoption paperwork is done.
Run a Shelter Dog
Take a shelter dog on a run, log your miles, and earn points and badges for it. Monthly and all-time leaderboards, because a little competition gets more dogs out the door.
Your Impact Profile
Shelter miles run, opportunities signed up for, badges earned, and your pets - a public profile that shows what you've actually done, not just what you follow.
Messaging
Direct messages, group threads, and a way to message a shelter directly. Shelter staff can reply as the shelter rather than as themselves.
Litter Groups
Keep-in-touch threads for littermates who found their homes. Opt in when you adopt and watch your dog's siblings grow up alongside yours.
Who It's For
Pet People & Shelters Alike
Pet People
Adopt, volunteer, run shelter dogs, report a lost pet, find somewhere to take the dog on Saturday, and meet the people doing the same thing down the street.
Shelters & Rescues
List adoptable animals, post volunteer needs, share updates as your organization, and message supporters. Shelters running Hubbubb get their animals and shifts synced into Hoozr automatically.

What Beta Means Here
Hoozr is live and free - sign up and you're in. It started in Bend, Oregon and now works nationwide, so how useful it feels depends a lot on how many people and shelters are near you. It's an installable web app that works on any phone, with dark mode, and no app store required. Early users are shaping what gets built next, so tell me what's missing.
